Walk & Talk with James Quinaz + A.L. Steiner


Steiner hosted a brief walk on the Miami River, where she discussed her billboard project Welcome to the Misanthropocene (Origins of Ecofeminism) on view in the Miami Design District + a studio visit with artist & designer James Quinaz, who built a collection of furniture using only objects found in Biscayne Bay and the Miami River as materials for his Bay Store project. Quinaz Studio focuses on sustainable production practices that minimize the use of harmful chemicals and materials




Public Art Tour of Miami Design District with special guest A.L. Steiner


The group, led by Thom Wheeler Castillo, explored the Design District through the lens of its history of art and architecture that characterizes the neighborhood, and heard from artist A.L. Steiner as she discussed her new billboard project Welcome to the Misanthropocene (Origins of Ecofeminism).


Welcome to the Misanthropocene (Origins of Ecofeminism) is on view now in the Design District on the corner of NE 41st Street & NE 2nd Ave.





A.L. Steiner’s Talk held at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden


Artist A.L. Steiner led a discussion at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden to discuss nuances of organizing for arts advocacy and environmental activism. Steiner was a co-founder of W.A.G.E and has been a part of many effective art based activisms, this talk was geared towards artists and anyone who believes art has the power to change hearts and minds.

D.A.S.H. (Design and Architecture High School) is one of the top public arts high schools in Miami, and is located across the street from A.L. Steiner’s billboard artwork, “Welcome to the Misanthropocene.” Steiner was invited to do a lecture for their students, as well as hold space for feedback in a portfolio development class.
